Elementary (K-5)

Our elementary program combines academic excellence with hands-on learning and Orthodox Christian values to help every child thrive.

Strong Academics

We use nationally recognized, research-based curriculum to build strong foundations in literacy and mathematics. Students learn to read using Amplify Literacy and develop mathematical confidence through the proven Saxon Math program.

Our well-managed classrooms create an environment where students thrive. They build strong foundations in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and more while developing curiosity, critical-thinking skills, and a lifelong love of learning.

The Elementary School Day

We begin each day with morning prayers in St. John Orthodox Cathedral, where students gather to sing before heading to their classroom ready to learn. Throughout the day, students spend meaningful time outdoors. Whether they're exploring local ecosystems, building forts, or investigating science concepts, Alaska becomes an extension of the classroom.

We generally follow the Anchorage School District calendar, with a few exceptions.

“St. John’s challenged me to think critically, which has made a real difference in high school and in life overall. I truly loved my time at St. John’s, and my life has been deeply enriched because of it.”

— Rita Medland , Former student
