There have been some questions about the school’s Covid protocol. Below is the current guideline and explanation for our sick child protocol:

If a student stays home sick or is sent home sick, CDC guidelines recommend that the student should be home for 7 days and be symptom-free for 3 days before returning to school. (If the student is tested negative for Covid, the student may return to school after 24 hours symptom-free.)
Explanation:

*The 7-day clock begins the first day your child is kept home/is sent home. The clock can start on the weekend if that is the first day that they are sick.

*If your child is NOT tested within the 7 day window, but they are symptom free for 3 consecutive days, they can return to school after that third day.

*If your child IS tested within the 7 day window and receives a negative result, they can come back to school 24 hours AFTER you receive the results, however we ask that you use your discretion if your child still has symptoms of an illness before allowing them to return.

We hope that this makes the protocol a bit clearer and we appreciate the patience and understanding of our SJOCS families as we continue to develop these guidelines.
